Atheism = Violence Now?

Atheism works into that HOW, now?

So, I read the citation. It's an article off the opinion page of the Ventura County Star. While, it makes what is obviously a construable, anti-liberal argument, after reading the article, I realized mentions of God, religion, atheism, secularism, etc., were NOWHERE TO BE FOUND. I even used my browser's search function to find the words 'God,' 'secular,' 'atheism,' 'religion,' and 'Christian.' Nothing.

If anybody can wrap their heads around this logic, please, please, PLEASE tell me. This is all I can muster up on it:

In America, the curriculum in public schools is dictated by state governments and increasingly by the federal government under the "No Child Left Behind" legislation. Federal courts generally prohibit any type of prayer led by school officials, and even forbid the display and teaching of the Ten Commandments.

From http://www.conservapedia.com/Public_school, the other link in the above screen cap.

I'm not going to get into right vs. wrong on what is and is not right about public school prayer. Still, what does this have to do with tax dollars? At all? What does violence in the schools have to do, directly with religion? I, personally, have never heard of religious based violence in schools, although I'm sure it exists... although, I doubt it runs nearly as rampant, as say, racially motivated violence, for instance. Let's be honest, if it were a problem, at all, the news would be all over it trying to make us panic.

Politics aside, I just find it, again, laughable at the bias acheived. I know, I know, I've made it painfully clear at times I hate one side more than the other, and truly, I DO hate both sides of the American political coin. But let's face one fact: one side is making itself a LOT easier to pick on. Um, do I need a citation for that one?
